The Namiki Yukari Royale Peony & Butterfly fountain pen welcomes spring with three symbolic peonies and butterflies in raised and burnished maki-e.
The three peonies have individual meanings: pink for love, white for modesty, and mauve for friendship. Butterflies circle the flowers, announcing the start of spring.
The peony originated in China and has a long history in medicinal traditions. Its fragrance and beauty have also made it a subject of art and literature. Misa depicts the flowers and butterflies in Togidashi-Taka Maki-e on black urushi, combining raised and burnished decoration.
Made in Japan, the pen has a two-tone 18k gold nib and takes ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink. With its screw-on cap in place, it measures 149.2 mm long and weighs 46.8 g; barrel width is 15 mm. A converter and wooden presentation box are included.
