The Pelikan Souverän M400 Black-Red fountain pen gives the model 400’s design heritage a deep red-and-black striped sleeve and gold-plated decoration.
This M400 follows the design lineage of Pelikan’s model 400, introduced in 1950. A red-and-black cellulose acetate sleeve is framed by black resin, with a 24-karat gold-plated beak-shaped clip and rings adding a warm contrast.
Pelikan assembles the pen in Germany and tests each gold nib’s writing performance by hand. The nib is 14-karat gold with rhodium decoration. A built-in piston uses bottled ink, and the cap screws on to close.
With a barrel length of 120 mm and a barrel width of 11 mm, it measures 149 mm posted and weighs 11 g without the cap.
