Vostok Europe Undiné Rebel reveals a ruthenium-plated skeleton movement inside a gray PVD case, with a stingray leather strap and striped rotor.
Undiné takes its name from the water nymphs of Baltic and German-Scandinavian mythology. The name derives from the old Lithuanian word unduo, meaning water. The Rebel opens up the dial to reveal its Japanese TMI NH72 skeleton movement. Dark ruthenium plating covers the visible mechanism, continuing the black dial’s color into the gray PVD case. Super-LumiNova marks the hands and dial.
The automatic movement drives the hour, minute, and seconds hands, with approximately 41 hours of running time from a full wind. Through the back, the winding rotor shows its Côtes de Genève decoration. These parallel stripes give a different finish to the mechanism seen from the front.
A rotating dive bezel surrounds an anti-reflective 3.0 mm K1 crystal. The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm across and 14.9 mm thick, with water resistance rated at 20 atm.
Black stingray leather and two silicone straps, one white and one black, are included. All three measure 20 mm at the lugs and use quick-release spring bars and buckle closures. The set comes in a VE compact box, and production is limited to 1,000 watches.
It comes from the undines, water nymphs of Baltic and German-Scandinavian mythology. The name derives from the old Lithuanian word unduo, meaning water.
The exhibition back shows the automatic movement and the rotor that winds its mainspring. The rotor turns as the wrist moves, transferring that motion to the winding mechanism. Its Côtes de Genève decoration consists of parallel stripes across the surface.
K1 is reinforced mineral glass chosen for impact resistance. Sapphire is harder and more resistant to scratches, so the two materials have different strengths. The anti-reflective coating on this watch’s K1 crystal reduces glare.
The 39 mm diameter describes the width of the case. Its 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement runs in the other direction, from the tip of one lug to the tip of the opposite lug. That longer measurement describes how far the case extends along the wrist, which the diameter alone does not show.
Vostok Europe assembles the watch in Vilnius, Lithuania, using a Japanese movement from Time Module Inc. (TMI). Founded in August 2003, the company began using Japanese movements in 2010 and stopped importing Russian movements in 2014.
An open-heart dial gives a view through one opening over the balance. The Rebel’s NH72 is skeletonized, exposing more of the mechanism. Ruthenium plating gives those visible parts a dark finish, and the decorated rotor can be seen through the back.
