The new Iro-Miyabi fountain pens are made of ebonite and lacquered using the traditional Ishime-nuri technique, which simulates the appereance of stones. The lacquer takes months to dry, and several lacquers have to be applied in order to obtain the desired final result. The pastel colour of this Usukou pen is obtained from a special fragrant wood and was very popular in the Henian era. Each Iro-Miyabi fountain pen is supplied in a Pauwlonia box, ink cartridges and a converter.
