The Vostok Europe Batiscafos Automatic, limited to 3,000 watches, is a 300-meter diver lit by Swiss tritium tubes, with an exhibition case back.
Tritium and Super-LumiNova
Swiss tritium tubes and Super-LumiNova illuminate the hands and indexes. Each sealed glass tube glows continuously, without a battery or any need for prior exposure to sunlight or a lamp. The black dial carries applied metal indexes.
A 60-click diver’s bezel
The unidirectional bezel turns in 60 clicks and is finished in black PVD. It lets you time a dive or any other interval from the moment you set it.
A window onto the movement
A window in the screw-down case back shows the TMI NH35 automatic movement at work. The movement offers hacking seconds and manual winding.
Named for the bathyscaphe
Batiscafos takes its name from the bathyscaphe, a word coined by Auguste Piccard from the Greek bathys (“deep”) and skaphos (“ship”). On January 23, 1960, the bathyscaphe Trieste reached the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench.
The details
The Japanese-made TMI NH35 automatic movement has 24 jewels and a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound. It powers the hours, minutes, seconds, and date, with hacking seconds and manual winding.
The 316L stainless steel case measures 49.7 mm across, 58 mm lug to lug, and 17.2 mm thick. A 3.8 mm thick K1 crystal, a hardened mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, covers the dial. The crown winds and sets the movement, and the screw-down case back has a window. Water resistance is rated at 300 meters.
The black leather strap measures 24 mm at the lugs and fastens with a buckle, and a silicone strap is also included. The watch ships in a Vostok Europe DryBox L protective case.

What is a bathyscaphe?
A deep-diving submersible. The word comes from the Greek bathys, deep, and skaphos, ship, and the Trieste bathyscaphe reached the floor of the Mariana Trench in 1960. Vostok Europe, founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2003, has used Japanese movements since 2010 and stopped using Russian ones in 2014.
How do the tritium tubes work?
Each marker is a sealed glass tube in which tritium gas makes a luminescent coating glow continuously without charging. The Trigalight tubes are made in Switzerland by MB-microtec, a Vostok Europe supplier since 2009. After about 10 years, their brightness settles at approximately 50 percent.
What can you see through the case back?
The movement from the bridge side, with the rotor that winds the mainspring as the wrist moves and the balance swinging beside it.
What is K1 crystal?
A synthetic crystal that combines the shock resistance of hardened mineral glass with scratch resistance close to that of sapphire. On this watch, the crystal has an anti-reflective coating to improve readability.
How does the case size affect the fit on the wrist?
The case measures 58 mm from lug to lug. That span across the top of the wrist matters more for fit than the 49.7 mm case diameter.
