Inside Baselworld 2017

The 2017 Baselworld edition finished on March 30th. After an intense week this fair has left us with many new features that will dominate the watch and jewelry industry this 2017. As we told you on our previous post, some members of the Iguana Sell Team attended this event, enabling us to investigate what interesting trends we will find this year in our brands. In this post we will tell you everything about them!

ETERNA

Eterna celebrates the 70th anniversary of Thor Heyerdahl's expedition on which its Kontiki collection is based with a new Limited Edition. This novelty was officially presented at Baselworld 2017. 

The model shows the Kontiki edition's recognizable design. Luminescent hour markers contrast with its granite dial, achieving excellent readability. In addition this model features a rotating unidirectional bezel that gives divers an indication of the amount of time that the diver can be at a certain depth before it decompresses. Apart from this, it is resistant to 200 meters under water and the whole piece is made of bronze, giving it a greater resistance to the wear produced by sea water and making it the perfect piece for today's explorers. This Limited Edition consists of 300 units. 

Junghans

Another brand that stood out this year in Baselworld for its technological innovation is Junghans, who introduced FORM A, an automatic watch for every situation. With a minimalist design where its dial protected by a sapphire crystal dominates, this model will be available in four different versions. In addition to this model, Junghans has also developed FORM C the quartz version of this watch. 

MeisterSinger

MeisterSinger has also been present this year at Baselworld and has also introduced some novelties and innovations for this year. Continuing the style of one hand watches, a relaxed perception of time and under the premise of design and technology. The Circularis Power Reserve model is the latest addition to MeisterSinger's premium range. This line features an exclusive movement designed by specialists to meet MeisterSinger's quality standards, with a caliber and movement that have made it won several awards. Another aspect that has made this watch win several awards is its up to 120 hours power reserve. This model, with date indicator, is available in four versions allowing different hands, dials, cases and leather straps. For greater distinction it has superluminova on its hands and hour mark.

Sinn

There are two models of Sinn that specially stood out this year in Baselworld, we are talking about the EZM 12 and the Sinn 103 St Sa E.
The model EZM 12, is curiously especially thought for doctors and nurses. As this model has two bezels, one rotating inside and another outside, the inside allows to monitor the time guidelines specified, while the outside serves as back counting, facilitating with these to measure the times control of administration of medication. In addition the second hand is designed as a rotor, so it has an integrated pulse scale that allows recording the heart rate every 15 seconds. 
On the other hand, the model Sinn 103 St Sa E. belongs to a limited edition of 300 pieces. It is designed for water activities, as it is resistant to pressure, resisting pressures of up to 20 bar.

Maurice Lacroix

Another of the usual brands in Baselworld is Maurice Lacroix, a brand that this year has taken advantage of Baselworld to present one of its novelties of this year. We are talking about the Eliros Chronograph model. This multifunction watch combines the innovations of a modern watch with an elegant design, the warm and golden tones contrast with the pure white of the dial, making this watch the perfect model for any situation.

Alpina

We can’t forget Alpina, a brand that during this event has announced to launch its first Startimer Pilot Automatic. This model belongs to the Startimer collection, combining the experience in quality and a finish with a high functionality. It will be available in different versions, depending on the type and color of its case and dial. As usual in this brand, we can find the iconic red Alpina logo at 3 o'clock.

Frederique Constant

We could not finish this post without mentioning Frederique Constant, a brand that has presented in Baselworld 2017 its new Flyback Chronograph Manufacture. This model implies a new era of design for the brand. Before Frederique Constant's watch cases were characterized by rounded, and unpolished shapes. This model brings to the brand new designs and the combination of brushed and polished surfaces. It also has a finer bezel, giving an elegant look to the wrist. This watch is also available in several models depending on the strap, dial or bezel material.
