Vostok Europe Vilnelė Diamond sets eight diamonds into a mother-of-pearl dial, with a wave-pattern bezel and a movement powered by light.
The Vilnelė runs through Vilnius past Castle Hill, and its Lithuanian name means little wave. The watch carries that movement of water into a wave-pattern bezel surrounding a mother-of-pearl dial. Eight diamonds mark the hours against a surface whose sheen changes with the viewing angle, with Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers.
The mother-of-pearl is partly transparent, allowing natural or artificial light to reach the solar cell beneath it. The Japanese Seiko Epson VS42 solar quartz movement uses that energy to drive the hour, minute, and seconds hands and the date. A full charge provides approximately 12 months of running time.
A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial. The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm across and 11.7 mm thick, with water resistance rated at 10 atm.
A blue leather strap and a silicone strap are included, both 20 mm at the lugs with quick-release spring bars and buckle closures. The set comes in a VE compact box, and production is limited to 3,000 watches.
The Vilnelė is the river that runs through Vilnius past Castle Hill. Its name means little wave in Lithuanian, echoed by the wave pattern cut into the watch’s bezel.
Approximately 12 months from a full charge. A solar cell beneath the dial converts light into electricity stored in a rechargeable cell. Both natural and artificial light can charge it, but the time required depends on light intensity and exposure.
Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it highly scratch-resistant. Harder materials can still mark it, and a strong impact can chip or crack it. The anti-reflective coating reduces glare on this watch’s domed crystal.
The 39 mm diameter describes the width of the case. Its 46.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement runs in the other direction, from the tip of one lug to the tip of the opposite lug. That longer measurement describes how far the case extends along the wrist, which the diameter alone does not show.
Vostok Europe assembles the watch in Vilnius, Lithuania, using a Japanese movement from Seiko Epson. Founded in August 2003, the company began using Japanese movements in 2010 and stopped importing Russian movements in 2014.
The mother-of-pearl dial is partly transparent, letting light pass through to the solar cell beneath it. That cell converts the light into electricity stored in a rechargeable battery. The eight diamonds serve as decorative hour markers.
