Overview
Vostok Europe Almaz Chronograph sets a beige dial inside a black PVD case, with a central stopwatch hand that advances four times per second.
Almaz was conceived in the 1960s as a Soviet crewed space-station program, with research and observation missions reaching orbit in the 1970s. The collection takes its name from that chapter of space exploration. Black PVD gives the case a dark outline around the beige dial. Polished metal hour markers stand against the beige surface, with Super-LumiNova on the markers and hands.
A Japanese Miyota 6S11 quartz movement supplies the time and date, with a separate small seconds display. Starting the chronograph sets the central stopwatch seconds hand in motion, advancing four times per second. A separate counter adds up to 60 elapsed minutes, so seconds and accumulated minutes have their own readings.
The 47 mm case is made from 316L stainless steel and measures 15.4 mm thick. Its bezel rotates in one direction, while the crown and case back screw down. An anti-reflective K1 crystal covers the dial, and water resistance is rated at 20 atm.
A leather strap measures 22 mm at the lugs and fastens with a buckle. The watch is supplied in a VE presentation box, and production is limited to 3,000 watches.

What does the Almaz name refer to?
It refers to a Soviet crewed space-station program conceived in the 1960s. Research and observation missions reached orbit in the 1970s, giving the watch its connection to early space-station engineering.
How does K1 crystal differ from sapphire?
K1 is reinforced mineral glass chosen for impact resistance. Sapphire is harder and more resistant to scratches, so the two materials have different strengths. The anti-reflective coating on this watch’s K1 crystal reduces glare.
Does the case diameter include the lugs?
The 47 mm diameter describes the width of the case. Its 54.8 mm lug-to-lug measurement runs in the other direction, from the tip of one lug to the tip of the opposite lug. That longer measurement describes how far the case extends along the wrist, which the diameter alone does not show.
Where are the watch and its movement made?
Vostok Europe assembles the watch in Vilnius, Lithuania, using a Japanese movement from Miyota. Founded in August 2003, the company began using Japanese movements in 2010 and stopped importing Russian movements in 2014.
