Overview
The Visconti Van Gogh The Novel Reader ballpoint pen pairs green resin and gold PVD trim in a tribute to the painting’s quietly provocative subject.
The Novel Reader, painted in November 1888, shows a young woman absorbed in a book. Its yellow cover identifies a modern novel, considered acceptable reading for men but not for women at the time. Visconti sees a challenge to convention in this quiet scene and draws on the painting’s intense colors for the pen.
Gold PVD trim complements the green resin. The set includes a bookmark, continuing the reading theme of the painting.
A twist mechanism extends and retracts the tip, and the pen takes an original Visconti ballpoint refill.
Made in Italy, it measures 138 mm long and has a barrel width of 11 mm. It weighs 31 g.
