The Scribo La Dotta Campanula fountain pen recalls bell-shaped flowers in pearlescent lilac resin, with platinum details completing its botanical tribute.
Iridescent lilac resin recalls the bell-shaped blooms of Campanula bononiensis, the flower whose name connects this finish to Bologna. Its pearlescent color runs through the cap and barrel, with platinum details setting off the botanical palette.
Introduced alongside Ninfea, Campanula honors the Bologna naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi. His manuscripts, notes, and letters record his extensive study of the natural world. In 1568 he founded the city's Botanical Garden, where students could grow and examine the plants they studied. Observation, drawing, and learning also make this a fitting subject for La Dotta, named for Bologna as 'the learned one'.
The rounded cap and barrel, knob, and nib holder are handcrafted in resin, with platinum-finished clip and metal components. An ebonite feed supplies the Scribo 14k gold nib. The piston filling system holds 1.42 ml of bottled ink, and the pen closes with a screw-on cap.
Made in Italy in a limited production of 219 fountain pens for this color, Campanula is presented in a natural leather and cotton case. It measures 148 mm capped with a barrel width of 16.75 mm.
