The association of bamboo and the sparrow is one of the most popular literary and artistic associations in the land of the rising sun.
The symbolism of bamboo is strong and positive, hence the Japanese proverb "The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists". Represented in pairs, it doubles the luck factor. The sparrow, considered a songbird, brings good times with family or friends.
This scene, which invites you to enjoy life and your loved ones, was created with the delicate Chinkin technique, using Urushi and gold inlay. It requires great virtuosity and is only mastered by a few craftsmen specialised in lacquer.
