Herbelin Inspiration Automatic Watch with Silver Dial.
Inspiration draws on a watch Herbelin created in 1947 and keeps the rounded case, tapered lugs, thin bezel and domed dial of the 1940s and 1950s. The Inspiration Automatic is the self-winding model of the line. The case, in 316L stainless steel with yellow gold PVD, measures 40 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm in thickness.
Beneath a domed sapphire crystal over a curved dial, a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, with a 41-hour power reserve, powers the hours, minutes and date. A fluted ball crown sits on the case, which closes on a see-through back that reveals the rotor.
The silver dial carries slim indexes, and yellow gold PVD covers the entire case. The strap is brown vegetable-tanned leather patinated by hand in a French workshop, measuring 21 mm at the lugs and closing with a pin buckle.

What inspires the Inspiration collection?
A watch Herbelin created in 1947, at the start of its history. The line keeps its rounded case, tapered lugs, thin bezel and domed dial. Herbelin has made watches since 1947, and the family is now in its third generation, led since 2020 by Maxime and Mathieu Herbelin, grandsons of the founder.
Where is it made?
In the Herbelin workshops at Charquemont, in the French Jura near the Swiss border. Each watch is assembled by hand and passes 65 quality checks, and Herbelin keeps spare parts on hand to restore its models, older ones included. The movements are Swiss.
Can I wear it in water?
Rated to 3 atm, it takes splashes and a shower. Water sports are best avoided, and Herbelin advises having the seals checked every 2 years.
How does the gold PVD finish wear?
PVD bonds a thin, hard layer of gold-colored metal to the steel in a vacuum chamber, so it holds up to daily wear far better than plating. Solvents and hard knocks can still mark it.
How long does it run when it is not worn?
A full wind delivers about a 41-hour power reserve. Daily wear keeps the mainspring topped up, and after a longer rest in a drawer a few turns of the crown restart it.
