The U-Boat Darkmoon Camouflage Curve 44 has a curved black metal dial beneath a domed sapphire crystal, with oil filling the space between them for added depth.
A curved dial in oil
Oil surrounds the dial and the Swiss Ronda 712.3 quartz movement, deepening the dial’s color and making the crystal above it seem to disappear. A moving air bubble leaves room for the oil to expand and contract with temperature. When the watch is off your wrist, U-Boat specifies a temperature range of 32–140°F (0–60°C).
Gray Super-LumiNova covers the hands, numerals, and hour markers on the black dial.
A camouflage case
The camouflage is painted over black PVD.
Rooted in a 1942 naval design
The left-side crown comes from Ilvo Fontana’s 1942 plans for an Italian Navy watch that was never built. His grandson Italo revived the design in Lucca. On the Darkmoon, the screw-down crown sits beneath a guard.
The details
The 44 mm case is 316L stainless steel and water-resistant to 50 meters. The case back uses the Locking Ring System for battery access.
The black vulcanized rubber strap carries the U-Boat logo in relief and closes with a steel pin buckle finished to match the camouflage case. The watch is made in Italy.

Is the dial curved, or is that just the crystal?
Both are curved. The shaped metal dial sits beneath a domed sapphire crystal, and the oil-filled space adds to the sense of depth.
Why does a bubble move across the dial?
The bubble is an intentional part of the oil-filled construction. It leaves room for the oil to change volume with temperature and moves as the watch changes position.
Where is the camouflage pattern applied?
The camouflage treatment is on the steel case over its black PVD finish. The black dial remains a separate surface inside the case.
How should I store the watch when I am not wearing it?
Keep it within U-Boat’s stated 0–60 °C range, away from prolonged direct sunlight, heat sources, and large temperature changes.
