Overview
Long, curved grooves give the Pilot Capless Stripe Black Matte fountain pen its relief decoration, carrying the all-black finish along the body.
Each long groove is shaped individually, creating a relief pattern that follows the length of the body. Matte black lacquer and black PVD accents carry the dark finish through the design, including the black-finished 18k gold nib.
Pilot introduced the Capless concept in 1963. Here, a push button extends the nib for writing and returns it behind an internal shutter when finished. The fountain pen accepts Pilot ink cartridges or a compatible converter for bottled ink.
Made in Japan, it measures 140 mm long. The barrel is 13 mm wide, and the pen weighs 30 g.

Are the stripes a printed pattern or a relief decoration?
The decoration consists of long, curved grooves shaped individually along the body. The relief follows the length of the pen and is finished in matte black with black PVD trim.
How does the Capless work without a separate cap?
Press the button to extend the nib for writing, then press it again to retract it into the barrel. An internal shutter closes over the retracted nib to help protect it from drying out.
Which cartridges and converter fit this Capless?
It accepts Pilot IC-50 ink cartridges or a Pilot CON-40 converter for bottled fountain pen ink.
How should I care for the lacquered exterior?
Clean the lacquered exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners.
