Venezianico Redentore Levius pairs a blue guilloché dial, hand-cut by Linda Renzetti, with an Italian hand-wound movement.
Guilloché cut by hand
The Zefiro guilloché pattern takes its cue from the wind over the Venetian lagoon. Renzetti cuts it by hand on an 1850 rose engine, a type of engraving lathe. She guides the lines outward from the center and covers the whole dial, with no polished sections interrupting the pattern. Hands in polished and sandblasted finishes stand out against the dial’s changing reflections.
An Italian hand-wound movement
OISA makes the V5000 in Italy to a design by Fausto Berizzi and Andrea Menegazzo. Its free-sprung copper-beryllium balance, made by Atokalpa, uses four regulating weights to adjust inertia. The bridges are machined from solid metal and chemically nickel-plated. Hand finishing includes radial Côtes de Genève, mirror-polished bevels, and micro-perlage.
Light on the wrist
The name Levius comes from the Latin levis, meaning light or gentle. The case is Grade 5 titanium, with brushed surfaces and polished bevels. The watch slides easily under a shirt cuff.
The details
The hand-wound V5000 is 3.5 mm thick, with a 60-hour power reserve and a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour. Venezianico states an accuracy of ±3 seconds per day. The construction also includes a balance bridge secured at both ends, KIF Elastor shock protection, and screws designed to resist loosening.
The titanium case measures 38 mm across, 44.2 mm lug to lug, and 8.9 mm thick. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, and a sapphire exhibition back, held by six screws, shows the movement. The handcrafted blue embossed leather strap closes with an engraved Grade 5 titanium buckle in polished and brushed finishes.
Master watchmaker Daniele Zorzetto assembles each watch at Venezianico’s Italian atelier. The first series is limited to 100 watches, each with an individually engraved number on the case back.
It is hand-wound, with a 60-hour power reserve. It has no automatic rotor to wind the mainspring as you wear it, so it needs winding through the crown. OISA manufactures the movement in Italy.
Linda Renzetti cuts the pattern by hand on an 1850 rose engine. Its flowing lines evoke wind crossing the Venetian lagoon, with engraving continuing across the dial rather than alternating with polished sections.
The V5000 uses four small weights on its copper-beryllium balance to adjust inertia and regulate its rate. This differs from changing the effective length of the balance spring with a conventional index regulator. The balance is made by Atokalpa.
The sapphire exhibition back reveals the hand-wound V5000 and its radial Côtes de Genève, mirror-polished bevels, and micro-perlage. The bridges are machined from solid metal and nickel-plated, with a balance bridge fixed at both ends.
The first series consists of 100 individually numbered watches, with the numbers engraved on the back. The stated limitation applies to that initial series, rather than establishing a limit for every future Levius version.
The brand states ±3 seconds per day for the V5000. The movement runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour and is assembled into the watch at Venezianico’s Italian atelier by Daniele Zorzetto.
