Venezianico Nereide Tigris has a natural tiger’s eye dial whose golden and amber bands move across the brown surface as the viewing angle changes.
Natural tiger’s eye
The moving-band effect is called chatoyancy, and it comes from the fibrous structure of tiger’s eye, a variety of quartz. Each slab is oriented to follow those fibers, then waterjet-cut and thinned to a disc approximately 0.4 mm thick. It is polished and mounted on brass before the markers are applied. No two dials share the same pattern.
A stone of the trade routes
The design recalls Venice’s place on the East–West trade routes that brought gemstones to its workshops.
Tungsten bezel, Sansovino bracelet
The 120-click bezel has a polished tungsten insert, which Venezianico rates at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. The five-link Sansovino steel bracelet pairs satin-brushed surfaces with polished accents. Its folding clasp offers tool-free micro-adjustment, so you can fine-tune the fit without removing links.
The details
The Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement shows hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. Luminous hands and Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova on the markers help you read the time in low light. The 316L stainless steel case measures 42 mm across, 49 mm lug to lug, and 12.5 mm thick. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, the crown screws down, and water resistance is rated at 200 meters.
The first production batch numbers 500 watches. That figure does not cap future production. The case back depicts the Nereide, the 1919 submarine behind the collection’s name.

Why do the golden bands seem to move?
Tiger’s eye has a fibrous mineral structure that produces chatoyancy. As the angle of the light changes, bright bands appear to travel across the surface. The effect comes from the stone, not from an applied sunburst finish.
Will the dial match the photograph exactly?
No. Each slice of tiger’s eye has its own arrangement of fibers and color bands. The photograph shows the model, while the precise mineral pattern varies from watch to watch.
How is the thin stone dial supported?
The tiger’s eye is cut to approximately 0.4 mm and mounted on brass. Before cutting, the slab is oriented along its fibers to bring out the chatoyancy. Polishing is completed before the markers and other details are applied.
Is the whole model limited to 500 watches?
The first production batch comprises 500 watches. That figure applies to the initial run, rather than establishing a limit for every future Tigris watch.
How can I make small adjustments to the bracelet fit?
The Sansovino folding clasp has tool-free micro-adjustment. It allows small changes in bracelet length without taking out links, in addition to the larger adjustments made by adding or removing links.
Why use tungsten around the stone dial?
The polished tungsten insert provides a bright frame and high scratch resistance. It sits in a 120-click elapsed-time bezel, separate from the 316L stainless steel case. Its hardness does not make it immune to hard impacts.
