Venezianico Nereide Avventurina 39 brings the sparkle of blue Venetian glass to a compact case with a polished tungsten bezel.
Copper sparkle in blue glass
Slow cooling lets the copper inclusions form within the blue glass, where they catch the light like stars across a dark sky. Like a hard stone, the glass is then cold-cut into a 0.4 mm layer and mounted on brass. A sunray finish on the inner flange brightens the edge of the dial. Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova, charged by daylight or artificial light, helps you read the time in the dark.
Venetian aventurine
Venetian glassmakers developed aventurine in the 17th century, and the technique was documented by 1644. Tradition credits its discovery to copper falling by chance into a glass mixture.
The details
The Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement shows hours, minutes, and seconds, with no date. The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm across, 45.5 mm lug to lug, and 10.65 mm thick. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, and the 120-click rotating bezel has a polished tungsten insert.
The crown screws down, and water resistance is rated at 200 meters. The blue Tropic-style FKM rubber strap, with a woven-look pattern and ventilation holes, closes with a pin buckle. A small quick-release lever lets you remove the strap without tools. The line takes its name from the Nereide, a submarine built in Venice in 1919 and part of the city’s naval history.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
It was the name of a submarine built in Venice between 1911 and 1913. Its naval engineering history inspired the collection’s maritime design and rotating bezels.
Will every aventurine dial have the same sparkle?
The copper inclusions form within the glass as it cools. Their positions and reflections vary slightly, so the sparkle changes from dial to dial and with the angle of light.
Is aventurine a natural stone in this watch?
No. Here, aventurine is glass associated with 17th-century Venetian glassmaking. Metallic inclusions form within the glass and create its sparkle. Once cooled, it is cut and finished like a hard stone for use as a dial.
Why use tungsten for the bezel insert?
The polished tungsten insert is highly scratch-resistant, helping it retain its finish during everyday wear. It is a separate component from the case and still needs protection from hard impacts.
How does the rotating bezel measure elapsed time?
Align the bezel’s reference marker with the minute hand at the start of an interval. As the hand advances, the scale shows elapsed minutes. With 120 clicks around a 60-minute scale, each click corresponds to half a minute. The bezel measures time independently of the movement.
