Venezianico Arsenale Bronzo sets a smoky blue enamel dial in a bronze case and bezel that develop their own patina.
Bronze that ages with you
The case and knurled bezel are QAl9-4 bronze, an aluminum-bronze marine alloy. It oxidizes gradually with exposure and handling, so no two cases age the same way. A satin finish softens the reflections, and the bronze’s warmth plays against the cooler blue of the dial.
A smoky enamel dial
The dial is enameled brass with a sunburst finish and a fumé gradient. Fine radial reflections cross the blue, which deepens toward the edge. Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova, charged by daylight or artificial light, helps you read the time in the dark.
The Horses of St. Mark
The Horses of St. Mark are engraved on the 316L stainless steel case back in sandblasted and radial satin finishes. The sculptures arrived at St. Mark’s Basilica in the 13th century and recall Venice’s long history with bronze.
The details
The Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement shows hours, minutes, and seconds, with no date. The bronze case measures 40 mm across, 44 mm lug to lug, and 9.95 mm thick.
An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, and water resistance is rated at 50 meters. The blue integrated rubber strap attaches to the case with a bronze end link and closes with a pin buckle.
The name comes from the Arsenale, the Venetian Republic’s shipyard. Its specialized workshops built and fitted out ships in sequence, supplying the fleet long before modern factories. The collection takes its design inspiration from that history of shipbuilding and metalworking.
Oxidation gradually changes the bronze’s tone and surface. Moisture, handling, and exposure affect how the patina develops, so the color and rate of aging vary from case to case.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9039 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
