Overview
The U-Boat Darkmoon Camouflage Curve 40 has a curved gray metal dial beneath a domed sapphire crystal, with oil filling the space between them for added depth.
A curved dial in oil
Oil surrounds the dial and the Swiss Ronda 762 quartz movement, deepening the dial’s color and making the crystal above it seem to disappear. A moving air bubble leaves room for the oil to expand and contract with temperature. When the watch is off your wrist, U-Boat specifies a temperature range of 32–140°F (0–60°C).
A sunray finish spreads reflections across the gray metal dial. Black Super-LumiNova fills the numerals and hour markers, and gray Super-LumiNova coats the hands.
A camouflage case
The camouflage is painted over black PVD.
Rooted in a 1942 naval design
The left-side crown comes from Ilvo Fontana’s 1942 plans for an Italian Navy watch that was never built. His grandson Italo revived the design in Lucca. On the Darkmoon, the screw-down crown sits beneath a guard.
The details
The 40 mm case is 316L stainless steel and water-resistant to 50 meters. The case back uses the Locking Ring System for battery access.
The black vulcanized rubber strap carries the U-Boat logo in relief. It tapers from 20 mm at the lugs to 18 mm at the steel pin buckle, which is finished to match the camouflage case. The watch is made in Italy.

Is the dial curved, or is that just the crystal?
Both are curved. The shaped metal dial sits beneath a domed sapphire crystal, and the oil-filled space adds to the sense of depth.
Why does a bubble move across the dial?
The bubble is an intentional part of the oil-filled construction. It leaves room for the oil to change volume with temperature and moves as the watch changes position.
Where is the camouflage pattern applied?
The camouflage treatment is on the steel case over its black PVD finish. The gray dial remains a separate surface inside the case.
How should I store the watch when I am not wearing it?
Keep it within U-Boat’s stated 0–60 °C range, away from prolonged direct sunlight, heat sources, and large temperature changes.
