The Bauhaus Aviation Blackwing GMT Chronograph is a pilot’s chronograph that also tracks a second time zone, and its case has a black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating.
Chronograph and second time zone
A 24-hour hand displays a second time zone. Along with regular start-stop timing, the chronograph offers additive timing, which totals several timed intervals.
Readable after dark
White numerals and indices with a luminous coating mark the brown dial. Together with the luminous hands, they help you read the time in low light.
Made in Ruhla
Bauhaus watches are assembled in Ruhla, Thuringia, where watchmaking dates back to 1892. The workshop is housed in a landmarked 1929 Bauhaus-style building.
The details
The Swiss ETA G10.962 quartz movement powers the hours, minutes, chronograph, 24-hour GMT hand, and date beneath a K1 mineral crystal. The battery lasts about two years.
The satin-finished stainless steel case, with its black DLC coating, measures 42 mm across and 12 mm thick. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters. The black leather pilot strap, 22 mm at the lugs, fastens with a pin buckle. The watch is made in Germany.

What does the DLC coating do?
It is a hard coating bonded to the steel case that gives the Blackwing its black finish.
How long does the battery last?
About two years. Replacing it is a job for a watchmaker.
What is K1 mineral crystal?
A specially hardened mineral crystal. It resists scratches better than standard mineral crystal, though sapphire is harder still.
How does it differ from the 2888-5?
The 2888-5 has beige numerals and a flyback chronograph, which resets and restarts with one press, instead of the second time zone. Both have the 42 mm DLC-coated case and the brown dial.
Where is it made, and what is the warranty?
It’s made in Germany, uses a Swiss quartz movement, and comes with a 3-year warranty.
