The Namiki Emperor Rakucho Birds and Cherry Blossom fountain pen stands out for its large size and the Maki-e technique, this time used to pay homage to Rakucho, an imaginary bird that, according to legend, flies through paradise. This piece contains cherry blossom petals, which are inlaid and polished to achieve a refined finish. The background of the pen's body is painted using Oh-Hi-Nuri, a traditional way of painting the blooming cherry bark. The piece is signed by the artist Masahiro Yamada.
