Montblanc Meisterstück 149 is a fountain pen that has been manufactured since 1952 and today, remains one of the best fountain pens for handwriting. Its size is large, reaching 146.1 mm long and 13.7 mm thick, which allows a large load capacity.
New reference 132105, due to change of packaging (plastic free).
A particular detail of this fountain pen are the three golden rings on its cap. In the middle gold ring is engraved with the serial number and the name of Montblanc, and serves as a way to check the authenticity of the pen. Its cap is made of precious resin and torpedo-shaped and features a gold-plated clip with an individual serial number.
The thread inside the body is made of high-strength resin and to completely cap or uncap the fountain pen it is necessary to turn it three times. There are also small indentations that show the level of charge. One of the highlights of this model is its handcrafted 18-karat gold nib with platinum inlay, available in EF, F, M, OM, OB, OBB, B and BB, which makes it a luxurious writing instrument in the purest European tradition.
It writes beautifully, it’s comfortable and light to write with. I just love it. Very happy with my purchase!

A great pen.
This one is a classic pen and I can see why since it's very well made. There’s a lot of attention to detail in this pen, making it great for purpose, i.e., writing. The nib is great, there’s an ink window to monitor ink levels, a piston filling mechanism allowing for decent amounts of ink and a comfortable hold. There’s a lot of fuss in the fountain pen community about the price of these pens, but to be honest, there are many very expensive pens out there that I think deserves a similar point of view, but they don’t receive it for whatever reason. So I’d be my own critique on this, and all counts for that matter, when assessing cost. For me, I buy a pen, first and foremost, to write with. I therefore wish for no issues with the nib, filling mechanism etc. and this pen certainly delivers in all these areas. I can’t stand a fancy pen with faulty workmanship or function, although I wouldn't consider this pen to be 'fancy' in that it's quite conservative in appearance compared to other pens out there.
