The Namiki Yukari Pine Needles fountain pen takes a familiar Japanese symbol and focuses on the needles of the tree. The pine is associated with longevity, good fortune, and steadfastness, meanings carried by the decoration on the pen's black lacquered surface with gold trim.
Togidashi-Hira Maki-e gives the scene two stages of lacquer work. The background and surrounding elements are first completed in burnished Togidashi Maki-e, and the main pine motif is then created using flat Hira Maki-e.
A two-tone 18k gold nib completes the Japanese-made pen. It accepts ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink and closes with a screw-on cap. Capped length is 142.4 mm, barrel width is 12 mm, and weight with the cap is 33 g.
