Since the 1950s, the "Duo Cart myth" has been famous for being the first ballpoint pen with a double cartridge and hooded tip. The design from that era has become distinctive, so the Aurora house has decided to reinterpret it, designing for the occasion a rollerball with this typical conical design from the 1950s, aimed at vintage enthusiasts who also have a keen eye on the future.
The body of the rollerball is made of burgundy red resin, with a black grip section. It contrasts with the gold cap and trim, and the stainless steel nib is gold-plated.
I very much like the look and feel of this pen, it is beautifully designed.
However, on arrival I was disappointed to find that the nib skipped and gave a lot of ‘hard starts’ when writing, even after the initial flushing out and cleaning, and after persevering with writing for a few days.
After adjusting and a light polishing of the nib, it now writes beautifully.
So while I am very pleased with my purchase, I’m not sure one should expect this with a pen of this brand and price point. Not every customer will be confident with adjusting their own brand new pens - particularly at this price.
